Father Ashur Elkhoury was born on Holy Cross Day, 1965, to Shamasha (Deacon) David and Katrina Elkhoury. He is the grandson of Archandiaqon Patrous Elkhoury of Tkhooma and the nephew of Cor-Apiscopa Saeed Elkhoury of Beirut. At the age of 15, he migrated to the United States along with his family and resided in Anaheim, California. Revered Father Ashur attended Anaheim High School, where he met his life companion, Susana, daughter of Don Epifanio Villa and Doña Lydia Villa. After graduating from Cal Poly University with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1991, he married his life companion and was blessed with three lovely sons: David, Alexander, and Emmanuel.
He has been a Registered Professional Architect since 1996 in California and holds a certificate with the National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB) and is currently the Principal Architect at his own firm Alpha Omega Architects Inc. Father Ashur perused his graduate and post graduate studies in Architecture, after decades of professional practice and projects development in Hospitality, Religious facilities, commercial, Institutional, Multi-Family Residential, Revered Ashur Received His Master of Architecture Degree from San Francisco Institute of Architecture and his Doctoral Degree in Architecture (Ph.D.) with emphasis on human behavior in Religious and Hospitality Buildings. In 1986 Father Ashur commenced his seminary studies for the rank of Shamasha (Deacon) at St. Paul Parish in Orange County, California following his community college graduation. In 1998, he was ordained a Shamasha (Deacon) by His Grace Mar Aprim Khamis, Bishop of Assyrian Church of the East- Diocese of Western United States. After serving eight years as Shamasha, on Christmas Eve 2006, he was ordained a Qasha (Priest) by His Grace Mar Aprim Khamis and was assigned to St. Paul Parish Assyrian Church in Orange County, California as a Parish Priest, commencing on December 26, 2006. After serving as parish priest for 18 years, By the Grace of God and the apostolic nomination Qasha Ashur will be elevated by Ordination of the Diocesan Bishop Mar Aprim Khamis to the rank of Cor-Apiscopa (Cor-Bishop) on Friday, January 19, 2023 at St. Paul Assyrian Church in Anaheim California.
